The Plague and our time

We've already discussed Camus a bit, though it might be a fruitful exercise to connect the dots between the value of our finite time and The Plague (and the weird impact of being quarantined on our perception of time).

Camus said "real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present." In the present context I guess that means, among other things, keep your (physical) distance.

If you want to read a fun (though also disquieting) novel inspired by Camus and concerned with the pursuit of happiness in a culture that seems intent on devouring itself in one way or another, I suggest Richard Powers's Generosity: An Enhancement.

  1. "real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present." -Camus The excellence of this quote is that now-in-days we tend to be in rush to secure the bag and get ahead in life so our future can be great. However in doing we forget to open the gift called the present. We don't live in the moment but in the moment is how we control and create the future we are going to have. When we least expect it in present our lives can change and we need to be present to take full advantage of the moment.
