Should Humans Live Forever?

I was watching this video the other day. It was incredibly thought provoking, but also a bit eerie to me. The individual in this video, Vsauce, is exploring the question of mortality in our modern times. He visits a company called ALCOR, that cryopreserves dead bodies until science eventually finds a way to revive them. It is very expensive to have this done, but thousands are already signed up to essentially hit "pause" on their deaths. Do you think this is a good idea? If scientists are successful, will it be easier or more difficult to find meaning in life?

  1. As we'll see in "This Life," Hagglund's view -- which I find pretty compelling -- is that living forever would be subversive of meaning in our lives. Something vital in us seems to need the ticking clock. And I think ALCOR was responsible for separating Ted Williams head from his shoulders. No way to treat Teddy Ballgame!
